Recovering Music Guide To Mobile

If your Nokia device contains music store content and has been sent for repair, you may need to recover the music you had stored on it. This is because we cannot guarantee that content will be preserved during repair.
Recovering your music is simple. Choose from the two methods below.
  1. If your music is stored on your computer.

  • Before restoring your music:
  1. Back up the content of your mobile device memory card or mass memory using the Nokia PC Suite Backup application (ensure that the 'Memory card' or 'Mass memory' option is selected).
  2. Format your memory card or mass memory. For instructions on this, see the user guide for your mobile device. For some Nokia mobile devices, such as the Nokia 5310, you can format the memory card by selecting Menu > Gallery and the memory card. Select Options > Format memory card. For mobile devices such as the Nokia N95 8GB, select Menu > Tools > Utilities > Memory > Options > Format Mass Memory.
Note: This will delete all content. Be sure to use Nokia PC Suite to back up any data you want to preserve.

After formatting the memory, you are ready to synchronise your music from the Nokia Music for PC application installed on your PC.

To do this:
  1. Connect your mobile device to your computer using a compatible USB data cable. For a Nokia 5310 or similar mobile device, select Printing and Media as the USB mode. For a Nokia N95 8GB or similar mobile device, select Media Player as the USB mode.
  2. Open Nokia Music for PC. If your mobile device is connected correctly, a phone icon is displayed.
  3. To transfer music to the mobile device, you can either use the auto transfer option (if you have it configured) or drag individual tracks or albums onto the phone icon.
  4. If you have not downloaded all of your music onto your computer, you can recover music from the Music Vault. Open the Store tab, log in and select My account > Music Vault. You will be able to select which tracks you wish to re-download onto your computer.

2. If your music is not stored on your computer.

If you do not have your music on your computer, you can recover music from the Music Vault in the Nokia Music Store (mobile version). Note: this only applies to mobile devices, such as the Nokia N95 8GB, which support the mobile store.
Browsing and downloading music through the mobile store may involve the transmission of large amounts of data through your service provider's network. Contact your service provider for information on data transmission charges.
